Del the Dirty Hippy has finally released his latest CD and what a brilliant CD it is, I have played it 10 times already.Track 1 is the world famous "George, don't do that" about that idiot George Bush and his friend Tony, this song kicks arse and the kazzoo happily replicates the sound of raspberries that the fathead George deserves, nice one Del.
Track 2 is "Committee" another political monster of a song that is so close to the Levellers that it actually could be one of their songs but nevertheless I loved that one too.
Track 3 "Warning your toaster can kill" has more than a touch of the magic mushrooms about it, its weird and it's also wonderful, even if it's a challenge to hear the actual lyrics. Guess you had to be there!
Track 4. "Please Mr B" took me back to the birth of New Wave when groups made up songs about anything and this one is about getting pissed on a Friday night, not quite the rocket science we have come to expect from the dirty hippy but it was back to the roots I guess and a welcome burst of light entertainment. This track also features the audience at the barn on a Thursday night shouting down an imaginary telephone. Catchy and a lot of fun.
Finally Track 5 "A future of fear" and what a track this is! over 20 minutes of Pink Floyd, Doors and Frankie goes to hollywood all merged into one original track, politically moving, depressing, mentally uplifting, hypnotic and bloody long, but in my opinion a perfect length.
This CD is well worth a fiver and I recommend you buy one fast, available every Thurday at the Barn, direct from the Dirty Hippy's grubby hands.
