Party at the Barn - what a club!
Well after a 3 week sabbatical in Titchfield I was back at the Barn for a night filled with performing children, a didgeridoo impersonating a load of backing singers, a new Karaoke talent that stunned everyone there into a frenzy, a surreal raffle with more prizes than people in the audience, two grown men twirling about as Rory strums to his hearts content and a flying camel.
(I made that last one up)
Loads happened tonight.
LOADS.
- but suffice to say (although I will say more) it was a bloody party!!!!!
- not sure what was in the lager but the atmosphere was just mad LOL
I will try and convey the details of the joy that was the open mic tonight.
The two main acts, before the open mic bit started were Andy Muscat and Misunderstood.
Andy played at the Barn a few weeks back - I wrote that week that he had a HUGE voice. Well it turns out not only has he got a huge voice, but he also has a perfectly picked repertoire for getting the audience going, a talent for getting the audience involved when the time is right, the ability to do an impression of a metal band with just his guitar and voice (!!!) and did I mention his HUGE VOICE????!!!! lol.
Amazing - his set was absolutely brilliant - I cannot stress this enough - see this man if you can - he was totally impressive from start to finish.
He is also 14 years old.
He ripped through Bon Jovi, Proclaimers, Green Day, Chuck Berry, Phantom Planet, Nickelback and Wilson Pickett.
He "owned" Talking bout a revolution - he showed how Bowling for Soup's "Halfway round the world" and "1985" really suited his voice.
He also showed us his writing skills - and that's an interesting aspect to look out for - strong song!! - he had everyone in the palm of his hand!
- HE DID AC/DC'S TNT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
You may want to read that last sentence again! LOL - how often have you heard any solo performer perform an AC/DC song??? - it was amazing!
I think you get the general thread here....LOL
The hour after that was different as they seemed to have a committed attitude and ability to entertain - but it is unfortunate they had to follow Andy - he really was brilliant. This second band brough with them a mass of fans - who seemed to disappear once they had finished! LOL - what seemed to be crazily busy for that time of early evening practically emptied out the entire club after that hour LOL - it was odd how quiet it actually was.
The open mic spots would be playing to a smaller audience than they were used to.
- but this "smaller audience" could have been the most active, frenzied and enthusiastic the club has ever had LOL.
I will talk more of the second part of the party in a second blog - it's 3am and i'm knackered - time to get some shuteye and write the other blog tomorrow!
