where's me notes? - Milton Barn diary number umpteen Well there you go - my notes have gone adrift somewhere!
- SO!
I'll do this in 2 parts! LOL - i'm bound to forget something monumental.
Actually - i'll focus on Dave, Jay, Del, James, Lee, Manu and Tom Kelsall for this blog.
I'll rant on about missing out on Terry's cat in the next one! (AAARRGHHH!!!!!)
So Tom Kelsall was up for the first hour - lovely stuff, like his own songs, great versions of covers but the thing that had me grinning like a cheshire cat was his version of "What's love got to do with it" - (Tina Turner of course) which was brilliantly performed - tight, intense, moulded so Tom made it "his own" and just bleeding entertaining!! - cracking finish - although the last one was a request from his past, which I could see he wasn't expecting - and his mate from the audience came up and joined him on bass - for "Mysterious Girl" (Peter Andre!!! LOL).
That was great - but that guy, Matt - came up a few times and even played the drums really well at one time - that's what it's all about - nice!
James did a beautiful instrumental which he wrote - really REALLY nice.
Lee (who looks like a choirboy) was amazing again - lovely soulful voice.
Rory did a tribute to Angelina Jolie - which I thought REALLY suited his voice - he should do that one again I reckon.
There was a guy I hadn't seen before last night - and he's doing the hour soon - called Manu - he was absolutely fantastic!! - totally professional and perfect for a club like this - amazing - I wouldn't imagine the Pointer Sisters "I'm so excited" being done with such soul as he did it on his acoustic - and the first one that he wrote himself was brilliant too. I can't wait to see him again.
He has a myspace page too - when I find it i'll mention it (in Part 2 of this)
Jay did a cracking version of Stereophonics "Dakota" - excellent, and worked out really quickly apparently. Then he joined up with Simon, Brad, Terry and Nick to do Thin Lizzy's "Dancing in the moonlight" and the night finished with a laugh. Nick was well gone by then (I think he was pissed when he got there last night)
Dave I can't tell you about now as I have to go to a lecture - but suffice to say the man is one of three things:
1) A comedy genius
2) a man who can perform well but is on his own planet (or on heavy medication)
3) completely insane.
In Part Two of this I will elaborate! LOL (it was amazing)
