Nickless we were ! However the steady hand of able seaman Hardy guided us through a treacherous night..... Ade Cole gave us his best and some more, joined in the last few numbers by his pal (????)on flute and harmony vocals this really lifted the presentation of his songs. As ever he was laid back and full of anecdotes that sent odd angles around the hall. The outside gathering of teenagers was huge when I got there, and I noticed a distinnct lack of them onthe performance list - at least one of them (Leigh) took her name off the list - must be the summer hols - who wants to stay up late if it means you don't miss school.? Marina Sitis & The Mars thingy's played the living daylights out of two of his own songs. I never get the lyrics, he sings hard but not much comes out. If you've seen John play you know what I mean, good stuff though. Steve W played one of his languid guitar songs and backed up his friend on her outing of "walking in the air" and try as they might, it was unconvincing. Kev The Hardy was on good form and it was nice to see him back at the Barn. I rattled the strings for Riot in cell block no 9 and two others that I fail to recall with any great edge of clarity, but the audience was king! - As it was a short turn out for singers we had the luxury af relaxing into three songs - (I still say that should be the format) Anyway. Paul Vinten played and I have to mention theat he was well off key vocally and that is a shame because he is A: a damn fine chap & B:Usually quite good in that department. Stuart from Goffman played his original and personal songs to grewat effect, he is one hell of a singer. Jamie fionished off the evening and I am sure he was having a good go at Mr Blunts #1 song.... see y'all next week. more of you hopefully.
