Opening band Sweetedge ---- sorry, I missed them. First of the open mic acts was the redoubtable James, who as usual apologised for everything and in fact played very well, at least all the girls liked it, could be he has made some conection there. Nick's lad Jack gave an airing to Hound Dog to mass applause. Leigh struggled but succeeded with Stupid Girl (by Garbage I think) but got out the British Rail timetable for the timing to Jolene, which sped up and slowed down at random points - but again, to mass aplause. She also provided backing guitar for Lauren on Sweet Dreams are made of this and was the one who knew how it went. Tom sang two songs that sank without trace - not up to his usual standard, and his Dad was tutting away throughout. Sherwin re-appeared after some weeks away and sang one of his own songs, sorry misssed the title, but it blew away the Oasis tune he chose to cover - hook lines and chourus. Ditch the Oasis mate ! Nick was on form with 5 Years resurected and a self penned something. I had a yell through Wish You Were Here and Hoochie Coochie Man and found my poorly finger isn't up to playing yet ! Jamie is causing a lot of jaw dropping as the shy lad of a few months ago develops self confidence and is coming more and more alive to the business of projecting great songs, covering James Blunt and Damien Rice without hesitation. His voice in particular has benefited from his new found confidence. This is one of the best things about RCOMC - when you see the experience of playing live take hold of a dude and propel them onwards. Nice one. Russ & his chum gave us a couple of songs, sadly not helped by their guitars being out of tune and grating as a result. However Ross' own song was the better and shows, like Jamie, how far he has come in the last year, excellent. Missed the last guy as well, hope it went well for him. See you all soon. DT
