c1224 foyer increase Posted by Tom Clark on 5/28/2005, 9:56 am When I look at, what would for my lot be the view from the road, I am wondering if the foyer could be extended out 4-6 ft using a roof like the upstairs balcony? I would also add a door next to the down bath to reach the yard more directly from the kitchen. A higher ceiling would be possible up into the attic space, maybe even a porthole in the upstairs bath. This is the S-SW side and some more windows would increase light and solar heating. Also, what is the ceiling height on the main floor. Thanks  Post a Response

You might want to think about a veranda all across that side of the house . This plan is available with a full basement if you like, and want to delete the mech space we have by the kitchen. The plans are drawn with an 8' ceiling on the main floor, but we also have it available with a 9' ceiling as well. We could put a dormer above the foyer area which would allow the south light down into the interior, especially the foyer and stairs area. We could also a a window from the bathroom into that dormer space as well. This back dormer would look just like the dormer on the loft balcony. Hope this helps, John  Post a Response
