D-1677 Posted by Jamie on 5/26/2005, 4:27 pm My husband and I are very interested in the D-1677, but we have a few questions about the floorplan. First, if we wanted to have a detached garage that was then connected to the house by means of an enclosed breezeway leading to the kitchen door, and possibly making the laundry area in there, is that something you could change in the plans and if so about how much would you charge to do that. Also, would it be possible to change the first floor bathroom/laundry room into having the sink and toilet where the washer and dryer are in the plan, enclosing them, and making a small hallway leading to what is now the mechanical/storage room and making that the laundry room, and again how much would that cost to change. We were also wondering what the space behind the closet in the master bedroom is, and what the area and height of it is. Would it also be possible to have 2 sinks fit in the counter in the master bath or is there only room for one? The last thing is, if built to the exact specifications of your plans, how much space is there between the side of the kitchen island and the wall where the stairwell is. We can attach a garage whatever size you like, and join it to the main house with a breezeway. I think the best way to find out for sure is to get you to fax us a quick sketch of exactly what you have in mind. (306.352.6617). Once I know more, I can let you know what the costs involved would be for that revision. Your internal changes in the laundry area would take us about a half hour. Our rates for changes are $55.00 US ($65.00 CDN) per hour. The spaces behind the closets on the second floor are unheated attics, which have trusses in them at 24" o.c. If wanted to use that space for storage we could look at alternate framing in that area to get a more usable storage area. I think two sinks would be tight in the master bath. The shower we have in there beside it is a 4' shower, so perhaps if we changed it to a 3' shower, we could accommodate the second sink. There is 48" between the island counter top and the stairwall. As soon as I hear more about which side of the house the garage is going, I can complete my answers. Thanks, John  Post a Response
