Hello Tony & Nicole:
When we first started selling our Craftsman plans, the majority of them had a ship's ladder to access the bonus loft areas, and this was done with the thought of maximizing the square foot usage of a small plan.
Over time we had more and more requests to add stairs to those plans and for this particular model, our B-808, we derived the B-1106 which incorporates a full staircase and only increases the overall main floor size by 56 sq. ft. That additional size came from making the plan 2'-0" deeper. The extra width in the screen porch was also a common request, but if that does not suit your needs we can always remove that portion for you.
