I would like to incorporate an ensuite and a walk-in closet, similar to the loft space in the F series, essentially making the loft the master bedroom.  Post a Response

There are basically 2 options you can do to achieve the additional square footage that is needed with the first being; extending the loft out over the great room. This is by far the more economical option but it also has the biggest impact on the original design by eliminating the 2 storey ceiling in the great room. The second option would be to build into the attic spaces on either side of the loft. This carries a greater expense but gives you more flexibility in design and does not take away from the great room. Over the mstr bdrm we created a bath equal to the size the guest bath downstairs and created a closet equal to that size over the kitchen area. We sacrificed the vaulted ceiling but we eliminated the wasted energy those consume as well as increased the upstairs. We also split the ceiling lights upstairs on to two switches so that in the future this 22x30 room can be made into two bedrooms by adding a closet wall between them. We're very happy with this addition. Only 3 weeks and we're in!!! Derek  Post a Response

I really wanted to post pictures of the entire process as we went, but just building the house took all my spare time. We moved in about a month ago and absolutely love it! Here's some temporary pictures of the finished...almost finished product. Still a few details to handle, but we're close. When I find the time I will upload the entire 9 month process. In a month or so we have a professional photographer who will come capture the house in all it's glory. That'll be my incentive to hang some more pictures on the walls. I extend the same gratitude to Diana Gerlof in Canada who did a wonderful job posting photos of their I Series construction. In fact, I wanted to post pics through the entire process, as she did, but just didn't find the time. I did capture the entire process digitally, just haven't had the time to post them.
