B1385 Posted by MARG WRIGHT on January 15, 2008, 6:02 am HI ROB We are getting ready to build the B1385 near Bancroft, Ontario. Our builder is suggesting shingled roof due to the pitch. He has seen on metal roofs where the ice and snow has slide down and sheared of the chimney for the wood stove. Has anyone heard of or encountered this problem with a metal roof? What I suggest if you want to stay with the metal roofing and avoid this issues would be to furr out the stove pipe with a wood chase as show on our plans to make it a more secure structure. This will also allow you to build a small roof on site in the valley formed by the chimney chase and the main roof itself.
