Posted by Rob Young I am happy to hear that you have found our message board useful and informative. We also find it very useful in gaging what our clientele are either after in terms of new plans or if there are any issues to address to make the planning and construction process easier. In regards to the layout of the model in question, I unfortunately cannot tell you for sure which layout they chose for two reasons. The first being that when you purchase the full package of the Week-End Warrior as they have done, we include all the possible modular layouts which gives you the option to mix and match to suit your lifestyle, so therefore we do not know which they have chosen. I can take a guess at what they may have started with but even then I know I may not be right as I can tell that they have made changes to the plans on site, so the configuration may not be what I think it is. That is the beauty of theses modules. They have all been designed so that there are no load bearing interior walls to give you the flexibility to either use our layouts or create one of your own. Adding or relocating windows and doors is easily acheived if our wall grid system is followed which allows an easy transition to any addition you may add at a later date. As for adding a stair to these plans, due to the fact that these plans are not offered with a stock basement foundation I would suggest that you contact me directly to discuss your options. I look forward to hearing from you... Rob Young |
Posted by Kelly & Alex Your answer is much appreciated. We have called the surveyor out to give us our reference points, so that we can visually see where to put the cottage, as well as making sure we have room to eventually add our dream timber frame great room overlooking the lake. For us, what has been useful reading this board is that as novices, there is a huge comfort zone that we can ask questions and get answers. Not only on design but some construction issues as well. Life events sure haven't left us in a position to have someone else build it for us, but we do feel really comfortable after visiting this site for over a year that the two of us (and the baby) can build a very nice, comfortable cottage. We will be talking more soon with you! Kelly & Alex |
