Using Log?

Have you had, or heard of, anyone using logs for the exterior walls for any of your plans? We are waffling back and forth on whether to build a log home or a Craftsman, and figured that we might be able to mix the two. I have seen pictures of Gustav Stickley's log home, but haven't seen any contemporary examples. Thanks

Hi Rob: We have had several clients in the past convert our plans into a log/post and beam home design but unfortunately I have no pictures to show you how they have turned out. The conversion from conventional framing shown on our plans to post and beam construction is quite easily done as they both follow a similar basis for construction of the shell of the building. If you don't want to sacrifice interior room size due to the use of the wider logs, we simply show the walls bump outwards instead of into the interior so just your footprint of the home is affected.
