...and here was another way it was handled. I built a H series home in North Carolina and no ductwork was needed in the ceiling between the first and second floor. Two separate HVAC systems were used. One was in the crawl space that provided the heat and air for the first floor through ductwork. There was a separate system in the attic that provided the heat and air to the second floor through separate ducts.
