Posted by Rob Young If you were to build this plan on a crawlspace, you could place your mechanical equipment down there. If it is going to be built on a concrete slab, then your options are a little more limited. If you are going with a furnace, then I would say your only option is to put it in the attic but for such a small place you may want to consider alternate heating systems to save space. For example, you could use electric baseboard heaters to take the chill out of the air and offset the additional heat needed with the fireplace. Which by the way, can be any you have mentioned. As for the water heater, I would use a supply on demand unit, which is cheaper to run and can be easily mounted on the wall in the bedroom closet. This unit is only on when water is drawn thru it, unlike a water heater that is constantly drawing power to keep stored water hot. There are even heat pump systems that can be mounted outside to supply infloor heat. With so many options out there, I suggest talking to the professionals in your area to see what is the most common system used in your area and which one best suits your budget and go from there. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Rob Young
