I finished Drood last night and then read the first chapter of Barnes. I read the second and final chapter of the Barnes this evening. They should be interesting to discuss. In both cases, an excellent topic for discussion is trying to piece together the plot. In the Barnes, all the pieces are there (I think), but it is not immediately obvious (to me) how they all fit together. I do have my version; I'll be interested to hear if the rest of you agree. With the Dickens, alas, we only have half a novel and consequently half the pieces. It may be fun to speculate on where Dickens was going. I feel certain that it was not intended to go in the obvious direction. Dickens loved plot twists (Lady Dedlock, Magwitch, etc.). I'm looking forward to our discussions! :^)
