Gentlemen,
I could not survive the 80 pages of Furberage.
Yes, both wives were called Lucy. During the rent deal at the first meeting, Pimber and Omensetter establish that.
Pimber's wife Lucy was definitely having an affair with Omensetter because when Furber broke into the Pimber house, she came out with a gas lamp and said "is that you Backett?" Not Mr. Omensetter, not Brackett but a nick name "Backett."
I found the Furber pages too difficult to get through, so I stopped reading. Can you guys please tell me some of the details that happened?
When Pimber is first injured, and when Mat and Omensetter arrive, there is also another mysterious scene: I got the idea that Mrs. Pimber and Mat had a sexual encounter that night, am I wrong? Someone dragged someone else to another room and there was ripping of clothes ???
I am curious, what else happened in the book, can anyone tell me?
