For decades Hollywood has misused "you all" and "y'all" as singular when trying to depict (and ridicule) Southern speech. Until recently, at least, those pronouns have been used only as plurals. I've heard "all y'all" on television, but not in person. The usage in both cases may be changing, but traditionally Texans do not use "y'all" as singular just as we don't put beans in our chili. Those who do either are immediately recognized as outsiders.
