If we pick Nothing Like the Sun, Anthony Burgess' novel about Shakespeare, we might consider pairing it with A Dead Man in Deptford, his novel about Christopher Marlowe. They're both relatively short. The latter appears to be out of print, but inexpensive copies are readily available on Amazon. The books were written roughly thirty years apart, one from fairly early in his career, one from the very end.
