After I finished "The Stone Angel", I read a book called "Very Short Extraordinary Stories", compiled by Jorge Luis Borges and Adolfo Bioy Casares. It was very good. Then I immersed in a very famous book, "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions", by Thomas Kuhn. It is a masterpiece. Written for scientists and science historians, it can actualy be read by any well-informed people. It really is very accesible, and it gives you an extraordinary panorama of how science actually works and develops. I think it's a fundamental book for a good education. And now, before I go into "The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge" (anyone else going to read it?)I decided to try Rilke's poetry first. So I picked up "The Duino Elegies", in an elegant bilingual (German-Spanish) edition. I instantly fell in love with them (I've read 6 out of 10). Lovely and profound philosophy embedded in beautiful poetry. I'm actually learning some German too!

:
: I finally read Little, Big . I was disappointed. I
: just couldn't get in tune with it. In fact, I actually
: started it back in February, read a couple hundred
: pages, and gave it up. I got through it in May, and I
: enjoyed it more than I had been before, but I still
: wasn't crazy about it.
:
: After that, I read The Waves by Virginia Woolf. I
: had to restart this one too. I didn't take any time
: off, just went back to the beginning after about forty
: pages. Once I'd adjusted my expectations or attention,
: I enjoyed it well enough.
:
: I reread Ripening Seed as I had planned to do this
: year. I enjoyed it the first time I read it, but this
: time, I found it somewhat tiresome.
:
: The last novel I finished was Truce by Mario
: Benedetti. I enjoyed it very well. I read this as part
: of my ongoing interest in reading books set in or
: around Buenos Aires. Benedetti was Uruguayan and the
: book is set in Montevideo. There is a nice Argentine
: movie, El Lado Oscuro del Corazon , that uses some of
: Benedetti's poetry.
:
: Right now I'm reading a book called Understanding the
: Bible . I am also reading the Bible as I have been all
: year. I would like to have a reasonable understanding
: of what the Bible says, but I don't enjoy reading it
: at all. I usually feel that I can't say anything about
: the page I've just read. I have some block or
: something. I read the Koran a few months ago. I liked
: it better.
