Rizwan, you are posting messages at 2:00 AM--we know who is responsible for that. I hope baby Rami is doing well.
The God of Small Things is a fabulous book. It is a shame, from a literary perspective, that Arundhati Roy has since directed her energies to political causes instead of writing.
I really enjoyed Marilynne Robinson's Housekeeping and look forward to reading Gilead.

: You all have made excellent recommendations. I would
: have no trouble finding 12 books from among these that
: I'd want to read, so I won't submit a full list of my
: own. Instead I'll just add two of the books I read in
: the last year that I absolutely loved and would love
: to read again. Feel free to consider or disregard:
:
: 1. The God of Small Things--Arundhati Roy
: 2. Gilead--Marilynne Robinson
