I'm nominating some books I feel it's time for me to reread, or that I'm willing to reread next year.
Sense and Sensibility - All Jane Austen's novels are charming.
Invisible Man - Ralph Ellison - Traditionally considered the best novel by a black American.
The Violent Bear it Away - Flannery O'Connor - From the anniversaries list, one of my favorite novels.
Ripening Seed, (Le Ble en Herbe) - Colette - very short, a book I enjoyed some years ago.
Petersburg - Andre Bely - Nabokov called it one of the four best novels of the first half of the 20th century. It's surely the least talked about, but I think it's the most fun to read.
The Lover - Duras - There was some talk of this last year. Lale really wanted to read it, and I was game. If she didn't get to it this year, I'm still game.
Man's Fate - Andre Malraux - Um, I don't know.
The Immoralist - Andre Gide - I guess just because The Counterfeiters was so damned good.
I think I may reread Ulysses next year too, but I won't offer that as a nomination.
Steven's list is interesting. I've read LitToC, NA, JtF, and Z'sC. I want to read The Death of Artemio Cruz and The Left Hand of Darkness. If I get one or both of those for Christmas, I'll be reading them next year. They are on my short list. Jacques the Fatalist is very amusing. I read it in August.
