Anybody heard of this one? Herta Muller.

I'm never really surprised that I've not heard of the Nobel Prize winner. I find it difficult to get a sense of who the great contemporary writers may be, except by looking at who wins these prizes. Still, if the prize is just for literary merit, it does seem there are some well known writers of good reputation who haven't won it.
