NRF books in France don't have any quotations or any pictures on the front or the back cover. Even though these books are paperback, they the most prestigious prints. The thickness of the pages are just right. They are a pleasure to hold in your hands. No extra info other than the title, the author and the ISBN. They are beautiful. All you need is the capacity to read in French.
If you remember Henry James' The Ambassadors, there were a few references to "the yellow." They were talking about these books. The hero liked buying NRF books. Although, I don't think they are "yellow," they are more beige.
