I guess I was mostly bothered by things like copulating on the floor with children in the room. I think of myself as a quiet, reserved person. I've been drunk but never in public. And answering the door naked seems quite indecent to me. Also, these people seem to have a lot of drama in their lives, and I dislike that. There seem to be a lot of these people. Perhaps On the Road is responsible for some of them.
I don't think Hungerford said it in so many words, but she seemed to believe, and I think, that the writing of On the Road is somewhat mythical. I am sure the scroll existed and that he did write the final, or almost final, copy that way, but I think he must have had notes or even an outline. I would have said that the scroll was the first draft but for the edition Hungerford mentioned which reproduces the scroll. Perhaps it reproduces the scroll but with whatever insertions and deletions were later made.
