I have the translation by John Cournos. Is that the one you referred to as incomplete? I read it about three years ago and enjoyed it, but I didn't comprehend it well enough to rate it as highly as Nabokov does.
I certainly wouldn't call it "obscure" as Hungeford does. That struck me as well.
