Hey Steven,
I'm ready for Lolita whenever you are.
Before reading The Black Tulip, I read the last story from Interpreter of Maladies. I enjoyed those stories pretty well, and I now feel a bit more inclined to read some short stories. I wish there were a book of something like the fifty greatest short stories - you know, like those books of 500 greatest poems. I'd like to read The Nose and The Overcoat by Gogol, the two or three best of Chekhov, the two or three best of Hemingway, etc. I don't want to buy a whole volume of short stories by each author though. A lot of them can be found online, but I'm not fond of reading long texts on the computer. By the way, this brings up the fact that no Hemingway stories have been suggested for discussion. As those are mostly very short, I probably will read any I can find online if one is suggested.
My next book, I think, is The Relic by Eca de Queiroz. I learned of it from Bloom's Genius.
