My impression is that the log bridge is just a footbridge. The road out is on the other side of the house.
I'm actually reading the book again. I couldn't resist. I'm going to read one chapter at a time, and I'm making notes of everything. I want to see if a timeline can be established. I think it can. I'll let you all know what I come up with if it's interesting.
