You've tried to read the wrong thing.
The Street of Crocodiles by Bruno Schulz is a series of linked short stories that together give an impression (to me, anyway) of a short, fragmented novel.
It is not a play. (As I mentioned in another thread, I do not usually find much pleasure in reading plays, either.)
Theatre de Complicite adapted the book into play sometime within the past two decades, and it has been published. Searching the net, there may even be another theatrical adaptation.
Find an edition of Mr. Schulz's original book, not the play. (I bought mine from Amazon; it is published by Penguin Twentieth-Century Classics.) I think you're in for a treat.
