Thanks for getting us started on this one, Sterling. We are running a bit late.
I couldn't agree more with your observations--the similarities with Kafka and with Garcia Marquez, but not Proust. I also see a lot in common with the stories of Julio Cortazar.
What do we make of these stories, though? Is there a political or social message, is this a study of insanity, or are these just the dream images of an unfettered spirit? For the moment I'm inclined to the last explanation.
