I finished this book today. Very good book. Very skillful, very poetic writing. In fact, the whole book was like a poem in prose.
Very merciless. There are people like Baby Kochamma, I am not at all surprised by her behaviour.
The twins incest was hard to take. Initially, the social wiring in me made me think that Rahel and Estha's crime was bigger than the crimes of India, crimes of the police and the crimes of the dysfunctional family. But after thinking about it for a while, I realized that these two marginalized and tormented children did nothing worse than what the system or what their family did.
It was a sad story. beautifully written.
