This is not a medical question. I am interested in the philosophy of it. When you take a pain killer (right now I am on the good one) and when you get a relief from your pain, do you think the pain is still there but just not seen/heard by you or do you think the pain is gone, i.e. it doesn't exist anymore (for the next four hours)?
In other words when you do not feel the pain, does that make the pain non-existant. Like the falling tree in the forest?
