True. From other books and movies, we see that some war "heroes" take it to one extreme or the other, neither of which plays well with the people (who are also going through the war even if they weren't at the front.) Some believe a little too much in their heroism (from War and Peace, we know that it can be just a matter of being at the right/wrong place at the right/wrong time). Some others know that it is being exaggerated and take on the role of a jerk, offending all well-meaning members of the society.
I think Ramsay dealt with it well.
