I read Stefan Zweig's novelletta, I liked it very much.
The Gestapo's torture tactics are, as one would expect from them, inhuman, ruthless and maddening.
We cannot imagine how it must feel to have no newspapers, no books, no knitting, no hand crafts, no pen and paper, no sudoku, no radio, no television, no conversation, no nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Just the table, bed, washbasin, wallpaper. Day in day out, hour after hour, nothing to look at, nothing to pass the time. Just emptiness.
It is quite unimaginable.
