ive noticed that for SERT Phillipe and forey are out of this weekend. I've also noticed that Damian Cudlin didn't ride at albacete for BMW due to IDM. If BMW win the title do only nigon and gimbert get classes as world champions? And if sert win does only Sakia get classed as world champion? As these riders are the only ones that done the whole season? Im confused as to who wins. If every rider that rides the bike during the year gets classes then we would have 8 medals going to sert.
The Endurance World Championship is a TEAM championship, not an individual rider championship anymore. It changed in 2000. So, technically, any member of the team is 'world champion'
If BMW win it will be Nigon and Gimbert. If SERT win it will be Phillipe.
Unless of course its different rider line up at doha race 1.32.6.3 explains it
1.32 CHAMPIONSHIP AND CUP POINTS; CLASSIFICATION 1.32.1 Teams and Constructors will compete for the Championship and Cup. 1.32.2 For teams, the points will be those gained in each race. 1.32.3 For Constructors, only the highest placed motorcycle of a Constructor will gain points, according to the position in the race. 1.32.5 All races will count for the Championship and Cup classification. 1.32.6 The classification, in addition, will mention following information: 1) The name of the team (as it is mentioned on the licence); 2) The make of the machine; 3) The name of the rider(s) with whom the team had scored most of the points; 4) The total number of points;
I nderstand 1.32.6 - 3 to mean that the classification should list the riders with whom the team has scored most of the points, rather than *just* the rider(s) who have scored the most points for that team.
"Most of the points" means something different to "most points".
But really this is just semantic fudging. It's a team championship, won by a team. Riders, bieng riders, like to think of it as an individual thing, but it's not.
Team effort without doubt, and the mechy's doing the pitstop are equal important, if they mess it up the valuable time gained on trac slips away accordingly.
Btw Werner Daemen was normally to enter this round at le mans, he's replaced by Arie Vos #DutchSBK rider. Daemen had a huge crash at recent #BMEC race in august during the Spa 6Hours ,his recovery will take a full year. He took podium with Van Zon Boening BMW/13 in SST class at the recent Bol d'or. If VanZon Boening can take the title this year, Werner won't be forgotten either for his eforts.
