Race24 Home -> Race24 Message BoardFuel Irregularities of a different type!

Some (un-named!) teams in EWC believe that having open tops on their dump tins (either with or without air filters on them) improves the speed of fuel flow or whatever and run with this feature despite the fact that it is illegal (all fuel systems must be closed) and very dangerous as if anything goes wrong with the valves the urge in the heat of the moment is to turn the tin over and look with fuel flying all over the place. This has resulted in several recent spills, luckily not in fires. Also the tin will leak if it simply gets knocked over. I propose the FIM insist that when dump tins are checked the scrutineers should ensure that the tin is proved leak proof when upside down and containing fuel! A couple of seconds to do at most. I think the performance of the SERT, P1 and Yart dump tins shows that the very fastest tins do not need such a feature and that in fact it may even slow down the fuelling process - so lets make the pitlane a bit safer! Before anyone says anything I'm well aware that another un-named team used to run such a system! So, what say you all?
