What happened ?? In a safe and secure 2nd place after 4 hours the bike developed a fault which showed itself as a large loss of power when changing (shifting) gear. Andi Mecklau was "only" losing a couple of seconds a lap but motorbikes rarely cure themselves. In the heat of an unscheduled stop where you have seconds to diagnose the fault, shifter and shifting was used a lot in the conversation. Remember we are a truly international team with, Slovak, Austrian, English, Danish and Spanish languages in the garage. The shifter was changed, but the fault remained. With time to reflect and talk to Andi, we then correctly diagnosed low fuel pressure as the cause of the fault so within 10 minutes we were back in the box for a tank change.
There was no "additional" fuel stop but after dumping into the new tank the "air out" valve failed to seal properly, hence the litre or so in pit lane.
So the problem was fuel or fuel pump related, the same as Bolligers problem.
