Howard,
Don't apologize; thanks for the response. Chet Atkins is someone who I need to start collecting cds on. I'm actually not sure how much of his stuff is available, but I doubt all of it is.
Jerry is just one of those artists that I have a lot of stuff on, probably because I saw "Smoky" when I was little & liked what I heard & saw. At 24, I've got a long way to go.
Production wise, I think I know what you're talking about, maybe that Nashville Sound thing that permeated so many records during the 1960s & 1970s, even on Elvis Presley's stuff if you've heard it.
I'm being long-winded here, too, but about the only song that comes to mind with just Jerry playing alone is "Another Puff" from 1971, which is really a novelty type song anyway.
I don't know if you've heard Jerry's 1st album: "THE UNBELIEVABLE GUITAR & VOICE OF JERRY REED," but to me, that album really shows Jerry's playing on several tracks. It's simply guitar, bass, drums, organ or piano, & a 2nd guitar, without any strings.
As you progress through Jerry's later lps, his sound becomes much more heavier with additional players. I found that album as a torrent, so let me know, & I could email it to you.
I've still got a lot of his tracks in iTunes, where I'm going through them, & I'll be on the lookout for just Jerry & guitar, but I don't think he did it too much at all. He went for full-band sound, along with singers & strings.
