You might wnat to have a look at craigslist, because some people sublet their rooms/apartments for short periods of time. that can be very inexpensive and you can usually cook your own food which saves a lot of money too. Other than that I think AAA (American Automobile Association) has a good overview with ratings of hotels. And the earlier you book the more of a discount they give you.
