New York City Hotels

My boyfriend and I are going to New York late September and we are baffled by the choice of hotel. We are going for ten nights and want something clean, fresh, comfortable and not too tiny. We have a smallish budget also. If you have been to New York and stayed in a wonderful place matching my discription could you let this fellow FLC fan know? Thank you!
