Posted by Trisha CAMBRIDGE, NY (April 10, 2006) – An essential spring event is right around the corner, namely Songs from the Heart, an auction/dinner/cabaret evening commencing 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 22. The event will benefit The Theatre Company at Hubbard Hall (TCHH), and will feature Broadway musical luminary Douglas Sills, Tony Award nominee for Scarlet Pimpernel and star of the recent Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, in a cabaret performance. Sills will be joined in song by TCHH artistic director Kevin McGuire, himself a veteran of lead roles on Broadway, as well as national and international tours of Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, Jane Eyre and The Secret Garden. Other performers include Sandra Bargman, Mariah Sanford-White and accompanist Richard Cherry. Guests will have the option of attending a silent auction with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 5:30 p.m. at the newly-renovated Beacon Feed Building at the Freight Yard in Cambridge, followed by a 7 p.m. dinner (by Spoonful Catering) at Hubbard Hall, 25 E. Main St. The cabaret performance will begin at 9 p.m. at Hubbard Hall. A $75 per person dinner package includes cocktails, silent auction, and preferred seating for the cabaret at Hubbard Hall. Tickets priced at $35 for the cabaret only are also available. The performance will be followed by coffee and dessert for the entire audience. Reservations are required in advance, and can be made by calling (518) 677-2495. Established in 1999, TCHH is well-known and critically acclaimed throughout the Capital District. It is a mentoring company comprised of a gifted, multigenerational group of professional actors, experienced amateurs and newcomers. It succeeds in achieving theatre of rare liveliness and depth. Each year, the company presents a season of works by diverse playwrights (this season has featured plays by Noel Coward, J.M.Synge and—upcoming—Tom Stoppard), a musical, and “Shakespeare in the Park,” a free, traveling outdoor summer production in eastern New York and southern Vermont. Also in the summer, TCHH welcomes children for Children’s Theatre and for the Theatre Conservatory. TCHH has produced two world premiere musicals, the rock opera Henry’s House and He Who Gets Slapped. Hubbard Hall is an 1878 rural opera house located at 25 E. Main Street in historic Cambridge, New York. For further information, phone (518) 677-2495 or visit Hubbard Hall’s web site at www.hubbardhall.org.
