I had only a cursory knowledge of Poplar Hill, His Lordship's Kindness in Clinton. Doing further reading I noticed it was owned in the 1930's by Chandler and Rachel Cameron Hale. Would Chandler Hale have been a descendant of the New England Hales of whom the patriot Nathan Hale is the most famous ?
Also, while I have no idea what their social life and entertaining consisted of, being yankees/northerners I'd be interested to know how they fit in with the more established southern aristocracy that characterized that area of the county, more so then I'd think that what remains today ? Thank you.
