I'm not the historian; she usually answers on Sat., but as the internet specialist, I can give you a lot of resources readily available on the internet, though I didn't find out about his father (please realize that there could have been more than one Dr. David Ross from Bladensburg or some of this information could be in error, but I did this search for fun & curiosity and thought you might enjoy it).:
5 April 1769, he mentions Dr. Ross in the first sentence. (link below)
