According to J.Reaney Kelly's book, "Quakers in the Founding of Anne Arundel County, Maryland", Weekly and Monthy Meetings were held at the house of John Belt near the Patuxent River, just north of present State Route 214 on property now called "Velmead".
: I know the Quakers have had a long presence
: and strong influence in Montgomery County
: and other parts of Maryland but I wondered
: if they ever had much in Prince Georges,
: particularly the central and southern parts
: where the large plantations were dominant.
: There are so many historic Catholic and
: Episcopal churches but are there any remains
: of Quaker meeting houses in the county ?
: Thank you.
