I am seeking descendents of Augustus I. DuPont birth place South Carolina 1830 and Betsey DuPont birth place Georgia (date unk).The family migrated from Washington D.C. to Montgomery Alabama after the civil war.Son Whitfield DuPont born 1865 in Montgomery Alabama.They migrated once again to Pensacola Florida .Mr DuPont was one of the first African-American men elected to Escambia County Commission Board after the civil war ,and served for about 10 years then died in Pensacola around 1886.I am unable to find information for Augustus I. DuPont prior to the civil war.He was educated and I am unable to find the educational institution he attended .I found the family on a census report from The Mormorn data base ,but am unable to find any information that predates this time.Can any one assist me?
