I sent a long detailed response to your question, but I see that it somehow was not posted. I'll try again, without as much detail. Yes, there was a small chapel, Our Lady of the Angels, on the east side of U.S. 301, just north of Central Avenue. It was established in 1944 as a mission of Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodmore, but operated as a mission only until 1956. It was demolished in the 1960s, but appears on several maps of the period.
