I'm not the historian or librarian, but as an internet researcher & county historic homeowner I did a search and came up with the link below. The "ETW" could be the name of the tool manufacturer & they were established in 1946. --Previous Message-- : My husband found a splitting maul buried in : the county-owned woods behind our property : in Cheverly. The tool bears a stamp : "E.T.W." My guess is that the : "T.W." stands for "tool : works." Can you point me in the : direction of sources to find a tool : manufacturer that fits the criteria? We : would like to work out the age of the tool. : Thank you. :
