Thank you for your inquiry about the appropriateness/inappropriateness of the bathroom addition to St. Ignatius Church. I visited the church last month, and found that no exterior addition had been constructed on the church building. Apparently the bathroom that you have noted was added on the interior. The Prince George's County Historic Preservation Ordinance regulates changes only to the exterior of an historic building, and has no authority over changes to the interior. Only an Interior Easement would require State Historic Preservation review of interior work, and St. Ignatius Church has never conveyed an Interior Easement to the Maryland Historical Trust.
