I'm not the county historian, but as a historic homeowner I can tell you that there are houses registered as historic through both the state and the national trusts. There are web sites and books that list these homes. I think the county preservation office will have a new one soon (see link to state site below). If your house is NOT listed, that does not mean it's not historic. If it has significant architectural value or a significant history to it, then it could still be listed. The Maryland Historic Trust makes that determination; there's an application on their site (link below).
