All that we have on Joseph W. Arnold is his obituary, which says that he died suddenly on Tuesday, 29 October 1895, at his residence in Clinton, that he was formerly of Washington, and was in the 65th year of his age. Since he was "formerly of Washington" you might be able to get more information from the Historical Society of Washington at www.citymuseumdc.org
