You can be sure that your Clement H.B. is descended in one way or another from the 17th-century Clement Hill of Compton Bassett, in east central Prince George's County. I have looked briefly thrugh the materials we have on the Hill family of Compton Bassett (they were Catholic, and had their own private chapel at Compton Bassett during the 18th century), but I find no Brooke connections. The only Clement Hill that we have information on is Rev. Clement Brooke of Perrywood, who died in 1829. Rev. Brooke had a son Samuel L. Brooke, who had three sons, George W. Brooke, Upton B. Brooke, and Otho W. Brooke. They owned and lived at Perrywood in central Prince George's County. It was George W. Brooke who stayed at Perrywood, and when he died in 1913, he left Perrywood to his wife and children "in order that Perrywood may be kept in the Brooke family for all time" - but they sold it in 1941. This large and beautiful house is still there, now surrounded by a large residential subdivision.
